SHARK TANK 2024

Once again, the four societies of DDW (ASGE, AGA, AASLD, and SSAT) will be sponsoring an engaging opportunity for “innovators” to present their concepts, developing product or service at a DDW Shark Tank combined clinical session.

Session Description

The DDW Shark Tank session is envisioned as being a fun, high energy, entertaining, interactive session focused around scientific innovation. Participants will pitch the value of their work and vision and receive important feedback from the sharks. The sharks and audience will then vote on the best innovation.

Innovation/Research Criteria

ANY concept or research that could improve the field of gastroenterology and/or potentially the lives of people with GI related diseases in the future. Successful submissions are those beyond the stage of pipedream or early brainstorming. 

Judging Criteria

Each society will select one innovator to present during this 90-minute session. Each innovator will have 10 minutes to present and 7 minutes to answer questions from sharks. Sharks will judge each presenter on their research, presentation/demonstration and responses to questions. Props related to the innovation/research are welcome as part of the presentation.

What's At Stake

The idea voted as the most innovative with the highest score will be deemed the winner. The winner will receive complimentary registration to DDW 2025 and a trophy.

Please submit a single-page statement of interest with a brief bio and an outline of your early-stage invention/innovation for consideration by January 19, 2024. It is not necessary at this time to submit your fully developed presentation. If selected as the ASGE innovator, a title and more complete outline will be due to DDW-A in late March.
