ASGE Policy Statement on Eliminating Health Disparities

Eliminating disparities in the care of patients with gastrointestinal diseases and conditions is a major objective of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE).  To achieve this objective ASGE is committed to advancing the education of the gastroenterology community in the care of patients from underserved and minority populations.  ASGE will support research and the development of GI researchers in the area of health disparities.  ASGE will advocate for public policy that ensures access to gastroenterological care for the underserved and that supports increased clinical research in health disparities.  ASGE will support programs that help eliminate healthcare disparities in risk assessment and early detection of GI diseases, such as colorectal cancer.
