Douglas K. Rex, MD, MASGE, is a distinguished professor emeritus of medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine, chancellor’s professor at Indiana University Indianapolis and a full-time clinical gastroenterologist at Indiana University Hospitals.
He co-authored the colorectal cancer screening recommendations of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) and the U.S. Multi-Society Task Force on Colorectal Cancer. He also authored the recommendations on quality in colonoscopy of the U.S. Multi-Society Task Force on Colorectal Cancer and the ACG/ASGE. He has authored more than 350 original research papers, 65 book chapters, 240 invited papers, 75 editorials and 45 guideline papers.
He has served in the ACG as chairman of the Board of Governors and is a past president of the ACG. He is also a past president of ASGE and is a recipient of the Rudolph V. Schindler Award and Master Endoscopic Award from ASGE.
