Participants will be able to:
- Interpret advanced endoscopic imaging to identify recurrent adenoma after an initial colon EMR
- Recognize the various methods available to endoscopically manage recurrent adenoma after an initial colon EMR
- Demonstrate advanced techniques for colon EMR complication management
- Compare and contrast clinical scenarios when patients should undergo EMR versus when patients should be referred for ESD or surgery
Course Requirements
The enrollment criteria described below is intended to give potential participants an idea of the basic skill levels expected of program participants, and the skills that are needed to successfully perform lower EMR. Enrollees should:
Have completed graduate medical education training and are in independent practice (Physicians currently enrolled in an advanced endoscopy fellowship program may attend, but only with a letter of support from their program director)
Prior to the skills-training component, enrollees will be required to complete several online components in sequence. You should plan a minimum of 8 hours to complete the pre-course work.
- Baseline Assessment: Used to measure your baseline knowledge in this area. It should take you no longer than 30 minutes to complete.
- Pre-Work: After completing the baseline assessment, pre-work in the form of literature, videos from ASGE's Endoscopic Learning Library (ELL) and guidelines are made available for your review.
- Interval Assessment: Following the online instructional components, you will then re-take the baseline assessment. It's important that you take the time to complete all the pre-course content before coming to ASGE IT&T in Downers Grove for the live course.
Then, you will attend the live course. On day two, you will demonstrate your skills to the course faculty through one-on-one skills assessment.
After the live course, you will return to the online system to take a final cognitive assessment. You will earn CME credit after passing this exam (80%). Passing both the cognitive assessment and the one-on-one skills assessment qualifies for MOC credit.
