One of the most important functions of leadership is to develop and mentor talented and motivated junior individuals. To fulfill this development function, ASGE created the Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) program in 2014 to enhance the careers of junior physicians (years 1-5 post-completion of all training: Clinical Instructor, Assistant Professor, early in practice) and to create the bench strength needed to ensure future growth in the GI profession and in ASGE. Nominations for the next module of the LEAD program is now open. This program is an opportunity for young female gastroenterologists from all backgrounds to enhance and energize their leadership and career development skills through education, coaching, and building professional networks.
The feedback from previous LEAD participants has been overwhelmingly positive:
- Amazing retreat! I truly felt like I built a community over the retreat.
- I plan on participating in more committees, being more proactive in starting a motility division in my organization.
- Very inspiring and informative sessions. Good opportunity to learn about different healthcare systems practices, and perspectives. Made a lot of good friends.
- Work on being intentional, think about my future career using the Hogan Assessments to thoughtfully reflect and plan how I can approach future situations.
- Rethink how I approach negotiation. Learn to always have a plan and recognize what I would be ok with after the negotiation is over. Think about my short-term and long-term goals. Recognize how my affects negotiations.
As we plan for this year’s LEAD program, we need your help in selecting the appropriate candidates for 2025. We
have a maximum of 15 slots for participants. The program description, including time and resource commitment,
